Everyone involved with a yacht charter wishes guests to experience the best that the destinations weather has to offer. This however is, obviously, not something that can be guaranteed.
The Captain will make the decision if the weather is deemed unsafe to charter in. This decision is solely down to the Captain and the decision is always made with guests and crews safety as the main focus. Foul weather can result in delays to the charter cruising which may have a knock-on affect to your pre-planned itinerary. This itinerary is always created with this in mind and so
In theory, guests can go ashore
Not all boats permit smoking on board. For those that do permit it, most yachts will have a dedicated smoking area on one of the outside decks. There may well be restrictions on this due to wind strength and direction. On all yachts, smoking is strictly prohibited inside the yacht. This is a regulation to ensure the safety of the yacht.
One of the draws of a crewed yacht charter is their personalised nature. Prior to your embarkation you will be sent a preference sheet to fill in. This is your chance to tell the chef your likes and dislikes for food and drink. The Chef will use your responses to plan your meals onboard. If any member of the party has any allergies or intolerances these must be listed. In the unlikely event of a member of your party forgetting to mention something, don’t be concerned. Instead get straight in touch with us and we can let your crew know of any changes. It is key that crew are informed prior to embarkation as once you are aboard it is harder for the crew to get items whilst the charter in in progress- especially in more remote locations where shops may not available.
For those embarking on a bareboat charter, you are responsible for provisioning. The joys of chartering your own bareboat is you are in full control.
Your broker can provide you with the names of your crew and in most cases, information about them. Most yachts will also be able to provide brokers with photographs of the crew so that guests can start to become familiar with the crew before they meet in person.
A couple of weeks before you embark on board, you will be provided with the Captains phone number to enable you to connect. Having a phone call will enable you to discuss the route, itinerary and start to get to know each other.
