Some yachts will have a specified embarkation day, most commonly a Saturday. These days are when the yacht is set for embarkation and disembarkation however, alternative days can be requested but may not be accepted. Other yachts are more flexible with their embarkation and disembarkation dates and those will be subject to availability.
The length of a charter can be flexible. Most charter rates are shown as a weekly charter rate as that is the most common length of time for a charter. Other lengths of charters, from day charters to multiple week charters are considered on an individual basis. Once a request is received for any number of days, the owner needs to approve it before the final confirmation.
Unless requested and discussed with the yacht’s owner and Captain at the time of booking, embarkation and disembarkation times are set.
Yachts that have the same day turnaround, tend to embark from 5pm and disembark by 9am.
Yachts that have at least 24h turnaround will embark from 12noon and disembark by 12noon.
Time between charters is used to get the yacht ready and do all the provisioning. This period will also allow the unsung heroes, the crew, to take a well-earned rest and to prepare prior to the next charter starting.
Some yachts will allow dogs and other pets on board however, each boat will have its own policy for this. If having your furry friend on board with you is important, please let us know at the start of the yacht search so that we can provide you with boats that are open to pets. It may be that the boat owner requests a picture of your dog (or other pet you wish to bring with you) and size/weight in order to vet its suitability. Once aboard, the pet is your responsibility and the yacht and its crew take no responsibility for any injuries or damage caused by the pet.

No yacht can cruise anywhere without being approved for being safe and without an adequate insurance that is obligatory for all charter yachts. Each yacht and its crew members must follow strict regulations to ensure the yacht and crew are safe to charter. To qualify for insurance the yacht and its Captain, have to provide relevant inspection certificates. Every member of the crew has to be qualified for safety procedures. The Crew will have practiced following safety guidance multiple times.
Throughout a year, a selection of yachts in different destinations will have special offers running for a certain amount of time. Common special offers include Early Booking Discount where a small discount (normally around 5%) is applied for those charters booked well in advance. Equally, Last Minute Bookings are available where yachts advertise their last remaining weeks for a reduced amount. Finally, some yachts offer activities included with the rate for example, a daily massage or kitesurfing session. Speak to your broker about special offers to see if any are available.

You can change your group size any number of times during the initial search period. Boats are not like hotels with unlimited rooms available so if your group has increased in size, a new boat search may have to be carried out to find a boat able to accommodate a larger party with more cabins. Generally speaking, the larger the boat the higher the rate, therefore your budget may also have to grow alongside your numbers.
Once you have chosen your yacht and signed the contract you can still change your group size as long as it does not exceed the capacity of the boat which is specified in the contract. In the Mediterranean there will most likely be additional expenses required for food, however, these should not be significant. In the Caribbean there may be a larger cost as the all inclusive rate is calculated on how many charter guests there are.
Yes, you can change your mind on your selected boat while it is on option up until the point that the contract is signed and the deposit is paid. Despite this, in the yachting industry, a boat is only placed on hold once a client is ready to proceed with the booking. It is not common practice to then not go ahead with the booking. Once the Contract is signed and deposit paid, you can still cancel however, there would be a cancellation fee which is outlined in your contract. The closer to embarkation, the greater the cancelation fee is.
Yes, we are here to help you understand the contract and each of its clauses. We would be happy to answer any questions you may have over email or if you prefer, a phone call or a video call can easily be arranged.
