The first stage of preparing for your yacht charter is to think about the route and itinerary you would like to go on. If you or anyone from your group is familiar with the area, you might already have some idea about where you would like to go and what you’d like to do.
For larger groups, why not have a meeting (virtually or in person) to pull together everyone’s ideas? Don’t worry if some of your party wish to do different things to others, it is possible that members of the party can go off and explore while others stay back and relax on board.
When thinking about your route it is really important not to over plan—as hard as that may be! Having a few ideas for each day will be more than enough to help your Captain plan out your yacht charter. By not cramming in lots of activities you won’t be rushed. Additionally, on your charter vacation some of the most memorable times may pop up unexpectedly and having flexibility in the route allows this to happen.
It may help to list your top 5 priorities in order of importance. For example:
This can help your captain know what your groups overall priorities are, and he/she will try to ensure these are met.
If you are not sure where to start and would rather go with our recommendations, sit back, relax and let us send you our suggestions and create a great experience for you. Prior to embarkation we will send you the proposed itinerary to review. This can be changed and tweaked to your preferences, even during the charter.
Ultimately, the weather and the sea conditions will dictate the exact route you are able to go on. The phrase ‘pack your patience’ seems fitting when discussing this as you may have an ideal route planned, however, if the weather suddenly changes this route may have to be changed entirely. Your Captain will, however, always discuss with you the alternative options. Being flexible is a very important part of chartering and all destinations will have options to choose from.
